Neidan Classics: Da Cheng Jie Yao - 12 week course

Hi friends, this November I'll be offering a fascinating look into the first Neidan classic my teacher taught me back in 2012, the important 19th century text Da Cheng Jie Yao (Key to Fast Achievement), a Neidan text of unknown authorship which is one of the first to attempt to explain Neidan practice in a linear beginning to finish progression

Da Cheng Jie Yao is a popular Neidan text because it is clear and easy to follow as well as having important information which fills out early, middle and later stages of practice more clearly than earlier texts. It also lays out how to respond to the dangers of Neidan practice which is a rare feature that few texts include, and it offers a host of Daoist Qigong practices which are used to supplement the practice as well as overcome difficulties.

In this twelve week deep dive into the full text we will learn the following sections:

Week 1: introduction and Introduction to Daoist transmission: In this section we learn about the three origins of alchemy including heavenly, earthly, and human alchemy, then we also learn about the masters who passed down the Neidan tradition up to the point the book was written.

Week 2: Introduction to the teachings of Xing and Ming dual cultivation: this section explains how the three teachings of Daoism, Buddhism and Confucianism practice the transformation of essence, Qi and spirit and the desired outcomes of these practices.

Week 3: Discussion of the verification of returning and changing: this section explains the core experiences you need to undergo to verify the progression of your practice as you work toward achieving the golden elixir and beyond.

Week 4: Secret transmission of the gates: in this section you will learn about all the major points energy collects, passes and rests during internal alchemy training.

Weeks 11-12: Kun Yuan Jing: a short classic for female alchemists to learn Nv Dan, a popular approach to Neidan created by the Daoist Nun and founder of the Qing Jing School Sun Buer.

Overall Da Cheng Jie Yao is similarly detailed to more famous texts such as Xing Ming Gui Zhi, but it is more meticulous in the description of the parts of practice while melding practice and theory, unlike some other similar texts that conspicuously separate the theoretical from the applied.

This course is going to be super interesting and great for people who want to start learning internal alchemy as well as people who want answers to more advanced questions in order to understand where they are in the progression of practice, how to proceed, and how to avoid and deal with risks that come up during practice.
